The Chairman, Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), Plangji Daniel Cishak, has assured Plateau State citizens of the Commission’s resolve to conduct an election that would be of world standard for other states to follow.
This, he assured while in continuation of his familiarisation tour to three other Media outfits today in Jos, the State capital, particularly, Unity 93.3 FM, JAY 101.9 FM and Radio Nigeria Highland 101.5FM respectively.

The Chairman said, “the Governor on the day of our inauguration made it clear that PLASIEC is an independent body and if the politicians wants to make their votes count, they should go to the people and prove their popularity and not put pressure on us.

“And that, if anybody wins election under any party, he will not interfere so, it has made our job so easy. Most of the time when you have the appointing authorities putting pressure on SEC, they will be forced to do funny things.

“In a situation where you hear Collation Officer is there to receive results from polling units and swearing in is going on in Jos, we, by the grace of God, will not allow that to happen in our tenure”, he prayed.
Cishak, made bold to say that, the collection of these personalities by the Governor attested to the fact that he believed in all members of committee and knew the rich history they have because they were not desperate people.

He, therefore, called on the Media houses to collaborate with them to achieve this dream saying, “we assure you that Plateau will set a pace in conducting local government elections.

“We are determined, we are resolute and we have the character to do that. By the grace of God, many States like Lagos and Kaduna will learn from us. It is our prayers that, God will help us to make this work serious because the lives of Plateau people is hanging on our shoulders”, the PLASIEC Chairman prayed.

Responding earlier, the General Manager of Unity 93.3 FM, Rabiu Abdullahi, commended PLASIEC for taking a different dimension in preparing for the forthcoming Local Government Elections and that, it was an indication of the fact that Plateau people would have confidence in the process.

On his part, the Managing Director Comrade Clinton Garuba, who was represented by the Station Manager of Jay 101.9 FM, Pedro Omoballaji, described the visit as significant and it would help shape the future of tomorrow assuring the team that, they would give them the needed support to deliver.

While at the Radio Nigeria Highland 101. 5 FM Jos, the General Manager, Patience Nannyi Jatau expressed confidence that with the crop of people at the PLASIEC new things would happen and promised to create an hour live Program with the Chairman saying, “I will like us to move beyond the traditional ways of doing things”.
