The Media Action For Health, Environment and Sustainable Development (MAHESD), a professional nonprofit organisation, has been commended for its commitment to health and environment issues in the society.

The Representative of CISHAN,  Elizabeth M. Daor, who is the Plateau State Treasurer of CISHAN made the commendation recently, while on an assessment visit to the MAHESD Office in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

MAHESD Program Officer, Joel Gomiyar Gomiyar, welcoming the CISHAN Representative

She said, “I appreciate your commitment to health and environment issues in the state, having seen what you have been doing over the years especially in creating awareness through your mediums.

“I pray that as we are doing this mapping, when funds are made available for any activity, we will assist those that we have first visited for them to carry out their assignments”, Daor assured.

The MAHESD Secretary, Godwin Moses, making some points to Elizabeth Daor

She, however, expressed concern that most Organisations in the state have closed up because of the current financial challenges being Faced and prayed God to open ways for them to sustain the great work MAHESD was doing.

The CISHAN Representative encouraged MAHESD members to keep faith in God, believing that Governor Caleb Mutfwang led government would do something for NGOs in the state for them to be recognised.

“When it comes to Civil Society Organisation issues, we do not joke with it because we know that without a healthy people, the community will not be healthy, the society too will be healthy.

“At least, we now have a listening Governor who is always up and doing when it comes to health issues. If other governors were like the present Governor, Plateau State would have gone very far. But I believe the time is now just like the Governor’s slogan”, she enthused.

Earlier, the MAHESD Program Officer, Joel K. Gomiyar, thanked CISHAN for identifying with them highlighting that, they were a collection of Media Professionals from different media organisations that decided to come together, using their little contributions to create awareness on health and environment issues.
