We are set to clear boko haram dominant communities, forest- Army Chief 

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General T A Lagbaja

     Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General T A Lagbaja, has assured Nigerians of his men’s combatant pursue to clear all communities and forests dominated by Boko haram terrorists in Gwoza and other Local Government Areas of Borno State.

     He gave the assurance yesterday, while responding to questions fielded by Heads of Media Organisations at the Media Parley organised as part of the lined up activities for the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2024, held at Liberty hall of Crispian Hotel in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

    The Army Chief, explained that the Army with the support of the Borno State Government and other critical stakeholders working toward finding a lasting solution to issue of insurgency in not only the state but in the entire country.

    “The last round of offensive that we conducted  during the mountain search was focused on Mandara mountain and we are working with international partners, the Cameroonians on the Eastern side of the border to clear Agapaluwa, Shinene and hideouts of these insurgents.

     “After that round of offensive, our combatants descended on them and they surrender. I was told that the combatants stormed the Mandara mountain and nine males, several females and children with their weapons and other ammunitions were surrendered to the troops.

     “I will not say we have established a total dominant over the Mandara axis. There is work in progress and our troops will continue to do that until every inch of ground is liberated around the Cameroonians and other border of the town”, he revealed.

       According to Lagbaja, “be right assure that, in no distant time from now, we will clear every community, every forest where we hear the footprint of the insurgents and make those communities safe for the inhabitants to return and live lawfully”.

     The Army Chief, however, regretted the recent suicide attacks that claimed lives with many sustaining forms of injuries in Gwoza saying, “we are working with reputable organisations and we are on course to bring to an end this threat to our territorial integrity.
