Governor Caleb Mutfwang, of Plateau State, has made a passionate call  and observation to the National Assembly to look into the local government autonomy discussion and broader it as an all stakeholders’ conversation affair.

He stated this Friday, while swearing in the last two elected Council Chairmen whose results were certified by PLASIEC for inauguration at the Twin Theatre of the Government House Little Rayfield Jos.

The Governor said, “we are going to work together to come up with performance indicators that show that we are making progress. It is not going to be business as usual.

“That is why I want to call on the National Assembly, particularly the Senate that, as they discussed issues of local government autonomy, they must broaden the conversation and make it an all stakeholders’ affair.

“It is a Nigerian project that we must work on it together and therefore, we must bring all the stakeholders together and find a way forward to make local government administration more effective. It must not be them verses us. It must be a holistic exercise”, he enthused.

Mutfwang, therefore, prayed that these set of Chairmen would bring concrete development in their local government as the state would facilitate the transition of power from the state to the local government.

He disclosed that, they were trying to ensure that all the business ventures they go into, the local government would be shareholders to boost the revenue base of the areas toward a very rebourse local government system.

The Governor, on behalf of the Plateau people, congratulated the newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen and urged them to, together keep hope alive for the people of Plateau State.
