The Azumi Ladi Danat Foundation, a non profit organisation, has embarked on a comprehensive free medical and surgical health interventions targeting over twenty thousand (20,000) people with various degrees of medical challenges in Riyom LGA of Plateau State.
The Foundation has also procured and donated freely, a bulk of aiding materials for the physically and visually impaired persons as well as malaria drugs culminating into over three hundred million naira (₦300,000,000) respectively.




This took place at the General Hospital and Trauma Centre Riyom, in Riyom LGA of the State Monday, where mammoth crowd drawn from within and outside Riyom communities trooped in benefit from this great gesture that would last for four (4) days.
The major highlights of medical free interventions were: Eye surgeries and supply of Eye Glasses and treatment; Fibroid surgeries; Thyroid surgeries; Cesarean section (CS); BP screening & drugs and Diabetes screening and drugs respectively.




Others included: Hepatitis B, C, RVS, VDRL, MP, WT etc; General Surgeries (Appendix, Hernias, Lipomas, INT, Perforation etc); the distribution of Treated Mosquito Nets and the distribution of wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, walking frames etc, in that order.




Speaking shortly after flagging the intervention exercise, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Azumi Ladi Danat, disclosed that the foundation was poised to dignifying the lives of the poor, needy, widows and physically challenged persons in the society.


She also disclosed that, the choice of Riyom LGA out of the many interventions so far carried by the foundation, was due to the unfortunate security challenges that had left many homeless, loosing their loved ones with many forced to various physical challenges.
“We have alot of widows, alot of homeless people, alot of physically challenged persons and traumatized people. I selected this place because, if you have been listening to what is happening, you will bear me witness that crises have been on and on in Riyom LGA”, Danat disclosed.




The ALDA Executive Director, therefore, called on the people of Riyom LGA to inform their people to come and benefit from this great opportunity or risk being over taken by others who might trooped in from other states to take advantage of it.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of Riyom LGC, Hon. Sati Shuwa, who could not hide his joy thanked ALDA Executive Director for the passion and commitment to see that his People’s lives were uplifted from the hard condition they have been placed in.




He said, “I have seen the contributions, I have seen the unwavering support you have been doing to make this succeed. I will do my best to support you by ensuring that you succeed. We look forward to having you again. Thank you so much!.
On his part, the Chief Medical Superintendent, General Hospital and Trauma Centre Riyom, Dr. Fwangje Isah Francis, expressed gratitude to the foundation for choosing his facility to carry out this life changing interventions.




“I believe, this will touch the lives of people not only in Riyom LGA, but the entire State. We appreciate you and also like Oliver Twist, we are expecting more because it has upgraded the hospital and I want to assure the that, we will continue from where ALDA stops”, he assured.

Also, the Da Gwom Rey of Riyom, Da Samuel Mwadkon Jok, commended the ALDA Executive Director, Azumi Ladi Danat, for coming to their aid, describing the gesture as immeasurable saying, “I don’t know how much we can thank you in such a measure that will complement what you have done”.
There were words of appreciations from the beneficiaries as they kept singing songs of praise to Azumi Ladi Danat and her Foundation for coming to their aid.

There were also tears of joy rolling the cheeks of Mrs. Helen Ayuba, of Mangu LGA, Mr. Riyok Sunday Piam, of Ganawuri and a host of other beneficiaries as they rode their wheelchairs home.
