The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (PS-DMCMA), Pharmacist Kim Jerry Bot, has disclosed the invention of five 5 medical products made by the agency so far.
He disclosed this recently, while paying host to the leadership of Plateau State Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Murtala Muhammad way Jos, the State capital.




The Executive Secretary noted that, the agency might not necessarily limit itself to pharmaceutical component of it, but also looked at clinics and be sure that its safety was guaranteed and draw attention to it.
He disclosed that, when they came on board, they discovered a couple of reality that were staring faces within the state among whom was having circulation of very compromised medications and that, there were no control in terms of standard and a place to act.


Bot, however, revealed in the course of their duties that, they had a bad report of about nine products as of August this year of a particular brand of paracetamol injection contamination and alot of others in the market.
“We also had contamination of the suspension with heavy metals and alot of others and so, intercepting these kinds of crimes is one of the key functions of this agency.




The third function is to go into local manufacturing. With one of our initial roles in the history of the pharmacy when we were separated at a point when job description were well defined.
“We have come up with five (5) products made in the name of the Agency. Our Director of Production kept intimating me that people are already asking for the cough syrup”, he highlighted.




According to the ES, “we also have an antacid that we have made for the years, we made methylated spirits, we made Sanitisers and indeed anteiceptis. All were manufactured here within the Agency. And I tell you the truth, it has considerably dropped the cost and prices of medication for our people”.
He, there thanked the Leadership of NMA for deeming it fit extend their hands of collaboration with the agency, describing the visit as one of the joyous days having the NMA as critical stakeholders in driving this agency.

Earlier, the Plateau State Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr Yilji Cashmir Kumtap, thanked the Executive Secretary for allowing them access to seek for collaboration in driving a healthy Plateau State.


He disclosed that, the collaboration that could exist between NMA and this agency was enormous and that, if they had this working relationship, it would benefit both NMA, the Agency and the the good people of Plateau State.
Dr. Kumtap, said, “we are here to say that we can collaborate in several areas. Drug safety and security is something that is critical in the health sector. We are happy that the State is already compounding medications.
“I’m hoping that four, five, ten years down the line, this agency would say, yes, we have a Pharmaceutical Production Unit that will serve not just the state, but the entire federation”, NMA Chairman.
