The COA Media, has officially unveiled the nomination of the 10th Plateau Man of the Year Awards: Celebrating 50 Legends & Brands of Plateau State, starting yesterday November 6, 2024.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Principal Coordinating Executive
Plateau Man of the Year Awards.
For: COA Media Amb. Cletus Akhimien, and made available to newsmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital Wednesday.
The statement states, “COA Media proudly announces the 10th Plateau Man of the Year Awards. As Plateau State’s premier annual award ceremony, this year marks a momentous milestone as we celebrate a decade of recognizing and honoring remarkable achievements. “This historic 10th edition is dedicated to honoring 50 exceptional Legends and Brands of Plateau State—individuals and entities whose exceptional contributions and steadfast dedication has shaped our communities, strengthened our culture, and advanced our shared future”, it stated.
According to the Principal Coordinating Executive, disclosed that since its inception, the Plateau Man of the Year Awards has celebrated excellence, innovation and remarkable leadership across a wide range of sectors.
He added that, the prestigious event has become a beacon for recognizing individuals and organisations that inspired progress and embodiment of the highest ideals of Plateau State.
“From tenacious entrepreneurs to compassionate social leaders and from celebrated public servants to artists preserving our heritage, this award unites all those who drive change and set inspiring standards in their different fields.
“As we commemorate our 10th anniversary, we aim to pay special tribute to 50 Legends and Brands of Plateau State, those who have not only excel in their endeavors, but have also left an indelible mark on the lives of others.
“We are now accepting nominations from the public, organizations, individuals and institutions. Nominees should embody values that prioritizes the Growth and Development of Plateau State. They should meet the following criteria:
“Positive Community Impact: Nominees must have made a measurable, positive impact on the people and communities of Plateau State. This could include community-driven initiatives, social impact projects, or actions that have uplifted vulnerable groups.
“Innovation and Leadership: Candidates should exhibit exceptional leadership and innovative ideas in their field, whether through pioneering work, significant achievements, or implementing transformative practices.
“Commitment to Plateau State: Nominees must demonstrate a sustained commitment to the growth, development, and welfare of Plateau State, contributing to its reputation and advancement over the years.
“Excellence and Integrity: The award celebrates individuals and brands that uphold high ethical standards, professionalism, and excellence in their work. Nominees should serve as role models, inspiring others through integrity and dedication”, Akhimien, highlighted.
Identifying some of the categories to be considered, the Ambassador said, the 10th Plateau Man of the Year Awards aims to honor Legends and Brands across a wide variety of categories to capture the diverse human and organizational assets that Plateau State is blessed with, and they include:
-Plateau Man of the Year: celebrates individuals who have shown outstanding leadership, notable achievements, and made a significant impact on Plateau State. It honours those whose contributions have uplifted society, advanced progress, and demonstrated commitment to the state’s welfare. The award recognises vision, resilience, and positive influence, highlighting recipients as leaders of positive change and models of excellence in Plateau and beyond.
-Community Development: For those who have positively transformed communities through projects, programs, or initiatives.
-Social Impact: Recognizing social workers, activists, and advocates improving lives and promoting social justice.
-Arts and Culture: Honoring artists, performers, and cultural leaders preserving and promoting Plateau State’s heritage.
-Business and Entrepreneurship: Celebrating visionary entrepreneurs and enterprises contributing to the economic growth and job creation in Plateau State.
-Public Service: For government officials and public servants who have made outstanding contributions to public welfare.
-Health and Wellness: Recognizing professionals and advocates promoting health, fitness, and wellness in the community.
-Education: Celebrating educators, schools, and organizations advancing knowledge and providing quality education.
-Agriculture: Honoring innovators and players in the agriculture sector, whose contributions has helped sustain and grow Plateau State.
-Media and Entertainment: Recognizing media personalities, journalists, and entertainers who bring Plateau State’s stories to life and to the public.
-Sports and Youth Development: Celebrating athletes, coaches, and mentors who inspire Plateau State’s youth and promote sports development respectively.
Also as Community Choice Award, he disclosed that this special Community Choice Award category allowed the public to actively participate by voting for their favorite nominees and that, this award was dedicated to honoring the people’s choice and recognizing those who resonate most with the heart of Plateau State.
