The Vice Chancellor, Karl-Kumm University Vom, Professor Audu Nanven Gambo, has advocated for increased funding for the Nigeria Police Force to upscale the capacity of the institution and effectively play its constitutional role as lead agency for internal security operations.

This came in a statement signed by the Protocol and Information Officer to the Vice Chancellor of Karl Kumm University Vom, Bulus Gambo and made available to newsmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital Friday.

Prof Gambo who decried the current poor funding of the Police, noted that it has made it difficult for the Force to respond to the growing threats to internal security.

He stated this when the new Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police, Haruna Adamu, paid him a courtesy call in his office Vom, Jos-South Local Government Area of the State.

The Vice Chancellor said, “the Nigeria Police Force is capable of combating the current security threats bedeviling the country if adequately funded and motivated.

“Federal Government should be sensitive and responsive to the needs of the Police and other security agencies and not focus exclusively on the military alone”, he observed.

Gambo, therefore, thanked the DPO for deeming it fit to pay him courtesy call and wished him well in the discharge of his functions.

The DPO of Vom CSP Haruna Adamu, thanked the Vice Chancellor for showing uncommon interest in the security and peace of the country in general.

He appealed to the VC and his Management Team to join hands with the Police for enhanced security of the University.
