ACCS Victoria Philips goes home, leaves generosity legacy for emulation

The remains of late Mama, ACCS Victoria Philips (Rtd), mother of a popular TV voice & broadcaster with Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTVC)Jos, Vina Adams’, was laid to rest Tuesday, in her family compound Tudun-wada of Jos-North Local Government Area, Plateau State.

  Before her demised, Mama Victoria was a retired Assistant Controller of Nigeria Correctional Services and was greatly loved by her colleagues for her teamwork, dedication and passion for caring for their health of as a medical personnel.

    Born on November 11, 1964 to the family of Baba Bokos (Father) and Mama Afani (Mother), the deceased started her primary education at LEA Primary School Kulgul from 1970-1976 and later proceeded to Government Girls Secondary School Bajoga from 1976-1981, where she obtained her O’level Certificate. 

    In her quest to further her education, Victoria gained admission into School of Health Technology Zawan (now Plateau State College of Health Zawan) to study Community Health Extension Work (CHEW) from October 5, 1981- November 12, 1982 and subsequently enrolled into the National Open University, Jos Study Centre to study Public Health from 2012-2016 respectively.

    However. On October 8, 1990,  Mrs Victoria Philip, enlisted into the Nigeria Prison Service (now Nigeria Correctional Service) as Community Health Assistant and she rose through the ranks of Assistant Controller of Correctional Service (ACCS) before her retirement on November 11, 2023.

     She accepted Christ as her Lord and  personal Saviour and was baptized by Rev Lass Jatau at COCIN Tudun-wada, LCC Gigiring of DCC Jos-North. She was married to Chief Philip Danlami in 1980 and was blessed with 3 children: Vina Theo-Adams (Son); Victor Fensham Philip (Son) and Samson Mballa Philip (Son).

    The Reverend in Charged of COCIN Angwan Mission Tudun-wada, Rev. Rahol Pam, described late Mrs Victoria Philips as a committed Christian who have selflessly service others and has demonstrated that with her generosity. 

      He encouraged the congregation to emulate her unreserved show of love and friendship to whoever comes in contact with her describing it as a true way to how Christian should be and that, she would be great missed saying, “we’re consoled with the fact that she would be resting in the bosom of the Lord”.

      Earlier, the deceased son, Mr. Vina Adams, described his late mother as a prophetess whose words always come to pass and that, he truly admired her generosity to not only her children, but whoever she comes across.

      He disclosed that his mother has left them three cardinal life realities to lean on which include: “Relationship, Friendship and Fellowship” and that, she would be greatly missed.

      Adams, eulogized her boldness and bluntness to issues the way they were and prayed God to accept her soul as he promised to stick to the goodwill and good morals she had left for them to seal on.

      There were outpourings of praises and prayers to God for her soul from families, relations, the Church, Kadung Community, Tagale Community, Tudun-wada Community, Pankshin Local Government Council, Colleagues, friends and many more as she was marshalled in and out colourfully by Boys Brigade and The Girls Brigade Nigeria amidst crowd.

   Late Mama ACCS Victoria Philips (Rtd) is survived by Vina Theo-Adams (Son) Victor Fensham Philip (Son), Samson Mballa Philip (Son), Peace Naphe ( grand daughter) and Success Naphe ( Grand Daughter) as well as Relations, Uncles, Aunties, Brothers  and Sisters respectively. May her soul rest in peace with the Lord!
