Nasarawa State Chapter of the North Central Reformed Youth Assembly (NCRYA), has threw its weight behind the North Central Leadership’s position on the rejection of Mr Newman Solomon Maitoro, as National Chairman.
This position came after an emergency online meeting held on May 12, 2025 by the Nasarawa State Chapter of NCRYA aligning itself with the resolution passed by the North Central Zone regarding the national leadership.
The position states, “as the home state of the current National Chairman, Mr. Newman Solomon Maitoro, we are deeply concerned by his actions and inactions that have undermined the integrity of the Reformed Youth Assembly.
“Despite our initial hopes and goodwill, the realities of his tenure have compelled us to take a firm and principled stand. We, therefore, declare our full support for the unanimous vote of no confidence passed on Mr. Maitoro by the North Central leadership, based on the following grounds:
“Gross misuse of power and subjugation of internal democratic processes; Refusal to delegate authority to the Deputy Chairman during his absence, in violation of constitutional procedures; Non-transparent handling of finances and administrative responsibilities and
Systematic marginalization of state chapters and erosion of trust among stakeholders.
As the chapter from which Mr. Maitoro hails, we believe it is our moral duty to hold our own accountable. Hence, we join the North Central Zone in calling for his immediate resignation and support the constitution of an interim leadership committee to oversee a proper transition in line with the association’s constitution”, it stated.
The Assembly, therefore, urged all national stakeholders, advisory councils, and founding members to act with urgency to prevent further damage to the vision of the Reformed Youth Assembly.
It reiterated that, the Nasarawa State Chapter remains committed to upholding the ideals of transparency, accountability, and reform, and would continue to work toward a youth assembly they could all be proud of.
