The Plateau State Education Director of Jama’atul Izalatul Bidi’a Waikamatul Sunnah (JIBWIS), Jama’ah Nasir Islam (JNI), Sheikh Abubakar Gana, has, last Thursday hosted Journalists in a Ramadan Breakfast in Jos as mark of worship for God’s faithfulness.

Addressing Journalists shortly after the breaking the fast, the Religious Leader gingered Journalists on the Plateau to see their profession as critical to changing the story of Plateau State.

He has also implored them to join hands with faith based organisations in promoting peaceful coexistence among the people of Plateau and Nigeria towards a better society.

He described journalism as an old corner stone that has been in existence for years playing significant roles in shaping the society and encouraged Journalists to not underestimated their contributions to the development of the country.

“No government can succeed in carrying out its responsibilities without the Journalists. So, I want to urge you journalists to stop underrating yourselves  because you are the most critical stakeholders in every society”, Gana pressed Journalists.

He, therefore, commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for ensuring that Plateau remains peaceful right from the start of this Ramadan fast, because there were no reports of any skirmishes anywhere in the capital city.

Appreciating the Religious Leader, the Plateau State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo, attested that this was the first time that a religious leader, a philanthropist like the Sheikh, has called Journalists from diverse backgrounds to come together for breaking of fasts.

“Indeed, you have shown that you are a leader by excellence. This is a true religion that we preach in churches and in mosques. It is an opportunity for us to meet our other colleagues, away from those that we relate with today in NUJ, which you made that possible. We pray that other leaders will sustain this, especially for us in Plateau”, she prayed.

On his part, former Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Dan Manjang, thanked for this initiative saying, “this is the first time that I have witnessed this.

“It might have happened in other places but not that I have witnessed. This is the first time and so, we pray that God will elevate you. If we agree, those of us that are seated here, if we agree as Journalists that Plateau State will move forward, it will move forward”, he noted.

Self-awareness is fundamental to navigating one’s life journey with clarity and purpose by understanding your strengths and weaknesses.

Recognizing your positive qualities and areas for improvement. Managing your emotions, empathizing with others, building stronger relationships through healthy connections with others, setting realistic goals, and working towards positive changes.

Develop a stronger sense of identity and self-acceptance. Make intentional decisions that align with your values, goals, and aspirations.

Here is the key; try to understand yourself and conform yourself to Godly values. The Lord empowers… Good Morning. TGIF. Happy Sunday!

Choices made in anger can ruin one’s life, be careful.

Choices made in anger can have: Far-reaching consequences, it could affect relationships, careers, and overall well-being.Causing harm that cannot be easily undone or forgiven.

Leading to a lifetime of “what ifs” and “if only.” When anger strikes, it’s essential to take a step backward and create space between yourself and the situation.

Breathe and calm down. Regulate your emotions before acting. Consider the potential consequences of your actions.

Talk to a trusted friend, family member, or mentor. Anger is a signal, it can indicate underlying issues that need attention.

Try to identify the root cause and deal with it. If you have acted in anger, go back and apologize, the phrase ‘I am sorry’ is both a mender, healer, and a restorer.

The Lord forgives…. Good morning and a blessed Saturday..

Realise that what’s happening around you doesn’t define who you are.

Your identity and self-worth shouldn’t be tied to external circumstances. You are more than your surroundings.

Your true essence and character come from within. Don’t let other people’s opinions shape your self-image.

Always remind yourself that you are unique, valuable, and worthy, deserving of love, respect, and compassion.

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough and the best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies. Live from a place of inner strength, confidence, and self-love!

The Lord prevails……Good morning and a blessed Friday..

The human spirit is stronger than anything that can break it, the more conscious you become, the more aware you become of how unconscious you’ve been.

The more you recognize the immense good within you, the more you magnetize the immense good around you. When the opportunity comes, it’s too late to prepare.

The scripture said “Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your billows have swept over me” Be ready!

When preparation meets opportunity, a miracle is born! Be always ready!

Good morning and a blessed Wednesday…

Beware, defamation has consequences, avoid it!

By Katdapba Yunana Gobum

For those who write, you must be aware defamation has landed many in trouble.

It has not stopped yet, so long as we think it is a ‘right’ to pry into the lives of people.

As a Journalist, one of the realities you must be at home with is to make sure your stories do not have a thread of aftertale.

No matter how ‘factual’ or ‘convincing’ they are written; once you cannot proof its veracity, save yourself by dropping it before it gets out.

So long as it was meant to tarnish the reputation or standing of another person, there is every reason to answer for it.

Then enter the new media, where everyone is a self-made editor. All manners of stories are concocted as truthful, without the thought of who it might affect or directed at.

Those who write and publish them do so believing they are beyond sanction. How wrong can they be!

So long as one is previledged to own an Android phone, his or parlour becomes the newsroom for all manners of contrivances.

They may satisfy their understanding, but those who have been ‘harassed’ or falsely accused; would always need to clear the Augean Stables, in order to set the records right.

Not everyone would swallow it, hook line and sinker. Some have let it lie low; believing ‘the sins of the accusers may expose them one day’.

For this and many others, new media platforms are daily inundated with barrage of innuendos on persons; about who they are and what they know about them in the past and or presently.

These are characteristic, but, nonetheless, they are disingenious the way such are peddled for consumption.

Young men and women who make spurious allegations on public officials do so without gumption. They think it is a right to engage in it.

They are often filled with a sense of accomplishment; but even more, they think that defaming or maligning a victim is taming his rise to prominence.

They forget their victims have a say too. Once it is posted, they go to sleep, so long as no one raises eyebrows. The damage would have been done.

They hardly know that they have reduced their victims in the estimation of men and women of goodwill.

When it happens, those who are not party to it mostly are wont to defend who they like or are close to, but not what is right any more.

Like many, who have spoken for and against it; I shall not be quick to judge, it is imperative to however caution that the new development is assuming a dangerous precedence.

Whether such posts are ‘casual’ or ‘unconscionable’, the preponderance of the phenomenon have become worrisome; even as some have been used by the powerful to think that it is the way to settle scores.

Whether we like it or not, the development often gets to the point that most of those who allege are not able to withstand the heat.

It is possible to turn the heat around for good before it gets out of hand. Matthew 5:25 states in clear terms what to do when anyone finds himself in this situation.

We have reached the point where those who engage in the practice have to ask themselves what they stand to benefit from it.

Tackle any challenge at first sight, the longer you stare at it, the bigger it becomes.

Avoid procrastination, putting off challenges can make them seem more daunting.

Tackling challenges head-on can make them more manageable. Taking immediate action can build momentum and confidence.

The lazier a man is, the more he’s going to do tomorrow. The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it.

The longer it takes to act on God’s identified direction, the more unclear the direction will become.

Be quick to obey, taking action without delay. Necessity is the mother of invention. Be swift in acting. The Lord instructs….

Good morning and have a blessed Tuesday…

What you can see is not the enemy, what you can’t see is where the problem is. Don’t judge a book by its cover, take out time to study the content.

Don’t touch fruits you don’t want to buy, you might end up taking responsibility you are not prepared for. Make up your mind who you want to settle down with as a young person.

Stop testing different fruits that you are not ready to take home. Don’t allow him to kiss you in private when he is not ready to kiss you in public.

The software in our heads is supposed to manage our hardware. Stop deceiving softwares simply because you are hardware.

The bible is not interested in answering our questions, but the bible is interested on stating its case.

Your problems are awaiting for your voice. When God appears the roads are clear. There are no spectators in the house of God – Do something.

Whether God answers you or not, He still gets the glory as prayers do not change God, but  bring you in harmony with God.

We are to change to fit into God’s plan and purpose for us. Start doing the inventory of your capacity, as Faith is not Stupidity.

The lord said “Come let us reason together”. The Lord Invites. Have a blessed Sunday.

What is broken can be mended, what hurts can be healed, and no matter how hard it gets, the sun shall rise again.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Anxiety is practicing failure in advance, anxiety is needless and imaginary. It’s fear about fear, fear that means nothing.

The obstacles meant to weigh you down are the ones that will build you up in ways you’ve never imagined.

Having one off day is no reason to sabotage your continuing progress. The Lord assures…

Dongtoe inspects road projects, assures contractor of government’s commitment

Arc Sylvanus Dongtoe, the Plateau State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development

By Ezekiel Dontinna

In continuation of his tour to inspect the speed of work by contractor handling 13km road network connecting communities in Jos-South LGA, the Plateau State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arc Sylvanus Dongtoe, has assured the contractor of government’s commitment to complete within shortest period.

He gave the assurance Thursday, when he led the Management Team of the Ministry to see the level of work at  Dahol Rohokak to Gura-Riyom, through Kwata-Vom road, Rakusot–Gyel to Sabon Barki down CRUDAN road network, carried out by Erapon Nigeria Limited.

The Commissioner assured that the administration’s commitment to transforming some of the slums into urban town was key to the Governor because the intention was to complete all the abandoned projects by the previous administration.

He explained that the contractor just resumed site after about 13 years out of site saying, “what we asked the contractor to do was to move back to site while we sought out funding.

Hon Podar Johnson Yigwan (Middle), the contractor, explaining some of the challenges to the Commissioner

“I think that has been done to assure the contractor that everything is possible, having listened to us to resume work. We have gone around and seen the heavy equipment working in some of the places.

“This road is very, very important to the government of the day, because it cut across the various communities. And very viable as it is, nothing less is expected from us to see that, yes, our own part is fulfilled through funding and other means”, he assured.

The Permanent Secretary Barr Yop Rwang Esq, left, with Mrs Martha Godongs, the Information Officer

Responding to questions fielded by Journalists on the value of the contract sum 13 years ago, Dongtoe disclosed that the contract was awarded since 2013 and that, the review and reassessment of the contract was on going.

Speaking to Journalists shortly, the Managing Director of Erapon Nigeria Limited, the contracting firm, Hon. Podar Johnson Yigwan, said the contract was awarded by former Governor Jonah David Jang in 2013 for the transformation of slums to urban town and work commenced immediately.

“As we went round, you saw exactly what we have done in those areas which were initially neglected, abandoned and forgotten 13 years ago by previous government.

“But with the promise made by the Time Is Now Governor, His Excellence Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, that he was going to work for the people, he has kept his promise and you can see the Honorable Commissioner has come around”, he reiterated.

Yigwan, therefore, prayed that the road contact awarded to them which was at the very minimum rate as of then with a bag of cement at ₦900 would be reviewed to meet up with present #9500 price of cement per bag.

However, Managing Director of contracting firm, stressed further that, they had already finished almost all aspects needed and were laying granular materials and very soon, the surface dressing would be done.

He assured that, as the rain approached, it would not even affect the road again because the surface dressing has been done, hence the need to hasten to avoid going back to how it was washed by rain 13 years ago.

Hon. Podar Johnson Yigwan, congratulated the Governor on his 60th birthday and pray God to see him through to fulfill all campaign promises.

He appreciated the Governor for keeping this promise by coming to the aid of the people.

Knowledge is like paint, it does no good until it’s applied. It has potential value, but it remains dormant until it’s put into action.

Application is what brings knowledge to life, making it useful and impactful. Without application, knowledge is merely theoretical and may not yield tangible benefits.

Move beyond mere intellectual understanding. Engage in experiential learning and hands-on application.

Integrate knowledge into our daily lives, making it a catalyst for growth, innovation, and positive change. The Lord refines…
