Dr Gad Shamaki Peter, the newly elected President of the University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA)
By Ezekiel Dontinna
The newly elected National President of the University of Jos Alumni Association (UJAA), Dr Gad Shamaki Peter, has described his victory as a victory not to him, but the entire Josites.
He stated this yesterday, while delivering his Acceptance Speech shortly after being declared winner of the election held at the University of Jos, Plateau State.
The President expressed gratitude to God and to alumni for the confidence reposed in him saying, “I feel deeply honored to stand as the 9th elected National President of the noble alumni Association of our Alma mater.
“This victory is not just about me, it is about every single one of us who dares to believe that the greatness of UNIJOS does not end at graduation…it continues, it grows, it shines brighter!
“I am deeply honored to accept this responsibility and I make this promise to you that: I will serve with passion and purpose; I will lead with vision and I will work tirelessly to lift our Association higher than ever before!
“Our dreams for this Association are bold and that’s because we are bold people. We will reconnect our alumni, empower ourselves and the younger generation, celebrate our achievements, and give back to the institution that made us who we are”, he promised.
Dr. Gad Shamaki Peter, reiterated that the victory belongs to all alumni who believe that the University of Jos was more than a University, but a family, a movement and a legacy.
He described the election as a testament of their collective interest in making UJAA greater and better because it represents their unity in diversity, demonstrating that the spirit of UNIJOS roared louder than ever.
The President expressed optimism that together, they had opened a new chapter for this great alumni Association and that was why he stood full of gratitude, energized by their trust that was fired up by the possibilities that lie ahead.
He added that “together, we will build an Association that is vibrant, visible, and valuable to all. An Association where no Josite will feel left behind. So, let’s go forward with boldness! Let’s go forward with pride! Let’s go forward as one UNIJOS family!”
The brand new President, therefore, called on every member of UJAA irrespective of those who voted for me or not to join hands stressing, “I strongly believe that if we stand together, there’s no mountain too high, no challenge too great, and no dream too big for the UNIJOS spirit.
Comrade Kyesmang Jonathan Yusuf, the National President of Mwaghavul Youth Movement reading the text of MYM
By Ezekiel Dontinna
The National President of Mwaghavul Youth Movement (MYM), Comr. Kyesmang Jonathan Yusuf, has raised alarm demanding for the immediate arrest of Mangu Branch Chairman of Miyeitti Allah Cattles Bearers Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and his cohorts over threats to communities in Mwaghavul land.
He made the demand Friday, while delivering his text at the press briefing organised by MYM at the Plateau State Headquarters of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Jos, the State capital.
The President condemned in strong terms the atrocities and calculated narratives of Fulani terrorists on the Mwaghavul Nation and called on all Plateau Youths to unite against the state’s common enemy.
“Recently, a Fulani leader, the MACBAN Chairman of Mangu LGA made threats against the peace of our community in a viral video, and another individual, Bilal Gambo, a former resident at Jwakchan-Kwaghas between Pushit and Panyam District of Mangu LGA, made provocative and defamatory statements against our people.
“At this point, we will not conclude that the security agencies are still pretending not to have read or heard the threats issued by these terrorists. It is not in doubt that the Fulanis have mistaken our people’s simplicity for weakness and stupidity.
“We demand that these individuals be arrested and prosecuted immediately for inciting violence against our people. The Fulani have made allegations against the Mwaghavul youths, claiming they are responsible for criminal acts such as poisoning cows and cattle rustling”, he disclosed.
Kyesmang, also revealed that the Fulani have also accused the District Head of Kombun, Da Gambo Audu Tetmut, for protecting cattle rustlers, but a review of history revealed a different narrative.
He noted that, the Mwaghavul people have long faced aggression from Fulani neighbors particularly, in Kombun District where reckless grazing has led to violent conflicts, specifically in 1969 where a Fulani neighbor killed Dabal of Kobwang.
According to the MYM President, some of similar incidents that led conflicts included: The same Fulani neighbor killed Mr. Kiffi Damwoghos in 1993; Fulani neighbors killed six people in Tidiu, Kombun in 2004 among others
He, however, disclosed that despite these incidents recorded over the years, the District Head of Kombun, Da Gambo Tetmut, demonstrated remarkable kindness during the 2015 and 2023 crises by recovering and returning over 200 cows to one Alh. Dari Mantau in Bokkos LGA at his own expense.
Other gestures recorded by his people was the return of 17 cows to one Alh. Ibrahim who had fled to Mangu; safely kept and returned abandoned goats and 30 bundles of zinc; took an injured cow to the Mangu Slaughter Slab and reunited it with its owner and the protection of four women and some children during the crisis by Rev. Ishaku Danar respectively.
Kyesmang, said, “ironically, despite these acts of kindness, the District Head has been falsely accused, given threats of invasion by Fulani bandits. This situation highlights the complexity of the conflict and the need for a nuanced understanding.
“Whereas, we understand their pain for the loss of their animals, they should report such cases to security agencies who have the expertise to investigate, arrest and prosecute such criminals rather than using such occasions to stereotype or blackmail our youth.
“We detest such cheap blackmail. And if such blackmail are intended to scare us, they would be making a terrible mistake. They better advice themselves as we shall meet them at our gates with the devastating force of our unity and patriotism.
“The leadership of our land has a zero tolerance for criminality. Accordingly, we are also by this press briefing warning all criminals of whatever color or shades to stop using our land as a lunch path to criminality. We will expose all criminals. This is our commitment to Nigeria and Plateau State”, he emphasised.
Panshak Henry Zamani, with a stage name: Ices Prince Zamani
By Katdapba Yunana Gobum
The story of Panshak Henry Zamani, one of Nigeria’s greatest rappers has a unique trajectory. It comes with a lot of lessons to inspire and uplift young persons.
Better known as Ice Prince, the genre of his music has a large fan base, who are often thrilled almost to a point of cult following.
He remains consistent on account of the influence of Jos, a city he calls ‘the best, coldest place in the World’ has had on him and his music.ll
For obvious reasons, he is opened to his fans; and even more, those who may not like his genre of music and swag; he tells his story with a passion that is sufficiently convincing.
Today, his fans know and appreciate how life has treated him while growing up in Jos; but this is not to forget his native home, Tabulung in Kanke local government area of Plateau State.
It is not an assumption that the Industry’s ‘coolest cat’ loves Jos, Plateau State to the point of naming one of his musical albums, Jos To The World.
People become what they dream to be by virtue of their life experience. The slow rapping Oleku and Aboki crooner, has a fair share of what life has taught him.
He has always admitted, and truly so, he had a father who was a man of means while he lived. His passage may have changed and tilted the balance of survival in the later years.
It was as a result of making things happen for his good and future that he came into his own. For that, he was able to create a viable platform for himself in the years that followed.
Late in 2024, he recounted how a failure to raise 20 thousand naira only stood between him and university education. This has happened to several persons from this part.
He told his fans on Amazing Klef Podcast: ‘I am an orphan. I didn’t go to the university because of N20K’. It never stopped him as that was not the end of his life.
Panshak Henry Zamani says: “If this imperfect human can make it, then nobody has an excuse to fail.
‘I was the guy who, every term, would spend at least three weeks at home because of school fees’.
Therefore, in order to survive, ‘I did menial jobs: I worked as a pool table attendant and made leather slippers just to get by.
“I was born into some privilege—my dad was rich when he was alive, but after he passed away, things changed. I’m not academically inclined or very smart, but I am grateful, and I thank God for my life.
The crooner couldn’t be anything but be proud of ‘where I come from, anyday, I can never come from anywhere except Jos’, and thus, he used that to rap ‘his city to the world’.
With big plans for ‘Jos to the world’, he was home last year to uplift the spirits of community members. If you doubt it, ask what he did when he visited Jankwano (Evangel) Hospital, Jos during the same period.
Did the Gada Biu people in Jos not benefit from his largesse? Walking all the way to Evangel, with no incident of stampede, it made the difference; for what he is to them.
Ice Prince Zamani is still a history maker, being Nigeria’s most successful commercial rapper. Mr Incredible MI Abaga, as others are still alive to confirm its veracity.
He became the first African artiste to go on a BET stage to receive an award solo. That is why he has reasons to disagree when credit is given to Davido.
Asked why that is so, he had this to lay his claim to: “I’m the most loyal nigga you’d see. Even when I want to release, I can’t without playing the record for Audu and MI, for their approval. It’s not like me and them don’t fîght, we have our fîghts but you’ll never hear me say things about Chocolate City.
“Even when I made the most money, I didn’t talk about it because I can never and I’ll never bite the hand that feeds me. Audu, Paul, MI, Yahaya, Jesse Jagz, they’re my blood as no money, no business, no music can come between us”.
Born Panshak Henry Zamani on October 30, 1986, in Minna, he steadily “rose to fame after releasing his hit single Oleku in 2010. The song became one of Nigeria’s most remixed songs of all time, and it’s still widely popular today.
“Ice Prince’s music career has been marked by several notable achievements, including winning the 2009 Hennessy Artistry Club Tour and releasing his debut studio album “Everybody Loves Ice Prince” in 2011.
He has collaborated with top African artists like MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz, and Sarkodie, and won numerous awards for his music, including several Nigeria Music Video Awards, Headies Awards, and Channel O Music Video Awards.
“As a rapper, Ice Prince is known for his unique style, which blends hip-hop with African rhythms and melodies. He has released several successful albums, including “Fire of Zamani” in 2013 and “Jos to the World” in 2016. He founded his record label, Super Cool Cats, and has signed several talented artists.
“Ice Prince’s personal life is also quite interesting. He has a son named Jamal. He has had challenges he faced in his early music career, including financial constraints and self-doubt’.
You can’t beat this: Ice Prince Zamani is a talented and influential musician who has made a significant impact on the African music scene. His unique style, catchy songs, and inspiring story have endeared him to fans all over the world”.
Ice Prince is the Jos that has been given to the world. The ‘Fire of Zamani’ is still on rage on stage!

Being hasty in the quest to succeed in life has crippled a lots of destinies. Walking at God’s pace helps establish you on the proper foundation.
Nothing is permanent unless built on God’s will and Word. Never remain where He has not sent you.

Nothing really belongs to us but time, that’s what everyone have in common. In the race for excellence, there is no finish line, adopt the pace of God.

The Lord warns. GoodMorning and a blessed Saturday..
Ambassador Nanpon Danjuma Sheni, the PIDAN President with other Executive Members
From Ezekiel Dontinna – Pankshin
President of the Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of Natives (PIDAN), Ambassador Nanpon Danjuma Sheni, has expressed dissatisfaction with the unprecedented interference into cultural activities at festivals.
He expressed this last Saturday, while responding to questions fielded by Journalists at the 2025 Puusdung Festival of Arts and Culture, held at the Pankshin Mini Stadium in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The President noted that, culture was one of ways that kept hope alive especially, in the face of the serious security challenges in Plateau State and every society in the harshness of economic environment like now.
“We cannot allow enemies of unity to disrupt our ways of life. We should continue with our cultural activities and never to allow any group to disrupt our ways of doing things.
“But, I am not happy about the interference of politics into cultural activities. And it is not just here, it is happening in several of our cultural festivals. We are frowning heavily, heavily against it.
“I keep on telling our politicians that political parties are merely vehicles for development. It is not a religion. In fact, the very nature of seeing politicians moving from this to that party gives you a clear indication that there is no ideology”, he noted.
Sheni, however, appealed to Plateau people to learn to live in peace with other various ethnic nationalities and be united as a people with a common vision that Plateau would rise again, which he believed would rise again.
On his part, the Chief Medical Director of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Dr. Pokop W. Bupwatda, agreed with the fact that humans were all political beings, but there should be coordination during such festivals.

He stressed further that, the presence of VIPs and dignitaries, especially political office holders, always come with this display personality and could not avoid the expression of politics, hence the need to manage it better.
“How can we manage it better? It is through coordination, through protocol because if two very important dignitaries are coming, and we have one day, protocol can make it in such a way that there will be peace.
“We do not want politics to take over our cultural heritage, because it is important that we all dwell together. Culture does not know party. It doesn’t know either APC or PDP or Labour.
“We are all one people coming together to celebrate our culture that God has given unto us as a people of Ngas. I hope we can plan it better, and the agencies of government can coordinate all of this like I suggested”, Bupwatda advised.
However, an illustrious daughter of the Ngasland, Ambassador Dr Nendi Ruth Fidelis–nee Obadiah, who is the President of RASAFEL African Network of Women Leaders representing Nigeria, expressed gratitude to God for witnessing this year’s Puusdung.
Nendi, who is also the Chairperson of No Woman, No Nation, Plateau State Chapter, said, “actually, I am very glad because this is my first time of attending Puusdung.
Ambassador Dr Nendi Ruth Fidelis nee Obadiah, the Nigerian President of RESAFEL African Network of Women Leaders and Plateau State Chairperson of No Woman, No Nation
“I have never attended it before, but as I have seen it today, honestly, it has united so many, so many people on the Plateau, and I want to pray that God that this will bring a unity and peace to Plateau State.
“Honestly, the Ngas people are known for peace and I encourage us to keep it and try to bring all other local government together, because Ngas always lead in everything they are known for”, she emphasised.

Caveat: I cannot lay claims to having had the full grasp of the man, Hon David Bitrus Barji. But his essence, I have come to establish.
In 2022, while the race for the House of Representatives started, yours sincerely had contact with him for the first time.
Truly, it is right to know, if he came to test the murky political waters, or for the purpose of service to people. He came for the later.
How has he proved his mettle over the years? He has since become a master and strategist in handling people and events.
When contact and mobilisation of men and resources are handed to some of his traducers of late, their ingenuity would fail them.
How he has handled these tasks has befuddled them, to the point of giving him a bad, just so that they can crucify him.
Consider this: Twice had the Ngas Development Association found him worthy, twice did he not disappoint the Ngas people in the assignment of organising the PUUSDUNG.
Those who know him are quick to point and say his rate of hardwork and motivation enabled him go through the university and obtained a Bsc degree in Accountancy.
He complemented that with a masters in Organisational Leadership and currently would soon cap it with a PhD in the same field.
Being a thorough community activist, he supports young people to attain their potentials as well as incentivise their efforts in business to grow large.
Through the Barji Hope Foundation, community and humanitarian services have found a fertile ground for their expression, with awards to boot in his favour.
Doubt it? Ask graduates who got job placements in various government and private organisations on account of his interventions. What about students, the aged and widows who have been assisted in several ways by him?
It does appear, and it can be verified, the humanitarian spirit of service is resident in many in Dawaki to enable Ngolong Dawaki, Nde William Gombwir to choose from amongst them to honour with chieftaincy titles.
On Saturday, May 3, 2025 the people of Dawaki of Kanke LGA will celebrate the Pus Rot Pwel Day.
The District Head of Dawaki, HRH, Nde Julius Gombwir will, on that day, coronate Hon David Bitrus Barji as Talban Dawaki.
He is married to Sarah who, together are blessed with three children: Arrit, Arbat and Ar’Khinen.
